Artwork Details
Photographed directly from rusted steel and decayed vehicle remnants, this work is printed on ChromaLuxe® HD aluminum. The process merges subject and surface into a unified material experience. The metal surface reinforces the relationship between the photographed subject and the finished object, allowing corrosion, color, and material decay to remain central to the work. Archival dye-sublimation ensures both vibrancy and permanence. A floating frame mount is included for a clean, frameless presentation. Each edition is hand-inspected, signed, and numbered by the artist.
About the Series
The Spirits of Route 66
Along Historic Route 66, abandoned vehicles and industrial remnants become sites of post-human portraiture. Vescio photographs rusted steel, deteriorated paint, and other vehicle surfaces transformed by use, environment, and time. The work often registers first as abstraction; with sustained looking, faces, figures, and other non-human identities emerge from marks already present within the material.
Rather than treating these remains primarily as Americana or nostalgia, the series attends to what persists after function has ended. The images are discovered rather than constructed, revealing points of convergence between material decay, memory, and non-human presence.
